In November 2004 the 3rd, he brought out a 4-song
Maxi Demo called Brasillach 1945, with a print run of...8.
Once again, no promotion, and once again, all the CDs were sold (the last
one was bought through an auction-website in February 2005). In this CD,
the singer goes deeper in the exploration of his privileged themes. He sings
about Robert Brasillach's going down into the Underworld. Robert Brasillach
was a french writer, gay and anti-semite, who collaborated during the WWII
(he was shot just after the end of this war). The theme is intimately connected
with the French history; and the song can cause unease, irritation or even
fascination. Anyway, the singer goes on, making the most of web technologies
and also by word of mouth. (Photo : the writer Robert Brasillach who inspired the singer Jann Halexander) |

In April 2005 the 6th, the singer brought out his first album, Halexander Songs on a free-lance basis (because few distributors are willing to distribute him, as he doesn't go on the stage and also because he's considered as a dropout). Jann Halexander deals with the same themes, exploited on ten songs (with mainly piano and voice). He talks about melting-pot (without promoting it), bisexuality, madness and death (a loyal lover). At first, he didn't have confidence in this album, but finally, the national daily Ouest France and then, other newspapers and french or belgian websites, were positively interested in the album. Halexander Songs is selling well. It appeals only to a limited public, but for a self-producted as Halexander, the sales are rather considerable. As a matter of fact, although he uses mainly the web to build his career, Jann Halexander isn't a virtual singer : he's a real singer whose style is firmly set, and whose fame is growing day after day… Retrieved from : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jann_Halexander |
